House of architecture Museum in Tangier, Morocco

At the centre of the reflection, the strong topography of Tangier: the backbone of the project, its revaluation initiates the architectural composition and reveals the natural geography of the place. The building does not disrupt the landscape, but matches it by the way it plays with the landforms and rooftop terraces. The Maison de l’Architecture is inspired by the pure volumes of traditional architecture of Tangier. The linear geometry of the building stands out in the landscape, catching the eye from the city. The façade, in the form of a matte concrete screen, allows a soft light to enter the rooms. Designed as an urban belvedere, visitors have the opportunity to contemplate the exceptional landscape of the city from the roof terrace. The main space called the “Agora” is designed as a public theatre open to the city, whose principal scene is the panoramic view of the sea.
